Cryosurgery
Cryosurgery involves the use of
intense cold produced by liquid nitrogen (or carbon-dioxide or argon) to
freeze and damage abnormal tissues, such as tumors. It can be performed to treat cancer when
other forms of treatment have failed. Cryosurgery is used to treat tumors both
inside and outside the body. The risks associated with cryosurgery include
infection, ulcers, damage to nearby healthy tissue and sexual dysfunction.
