Many Americans view the Victorian era as traditional and prudish, due to the way women are portrayed in the novels and the common themes of marriage and social classes.

Which texts would you reference to support your opinion?

It might be said that even thought people thought this period was " "prudish, hypocritical, stuffy, old fashioned ,and narrow-minded", it might not be totally accursed because it is considered a period of peace and prosperity for Britain.

The middle class increase in power and number and they aspired to become part of the nobility.
