The ruler belows shows a 7 inch segment divided into 2 equal parts. What is the lenght of one of those parts?

This question is just fancy wording for a division problem.

7 ÷ 2 = 3.5

The length of one of those parts is 3.5 inches.

3.5inches because the ruler is divided into 2 equal parts and if the total amount is 7 inches then 7 divided by 2 is 3.5 inches
