The Council of Trent, which took place from 1545 to 1563, was primarily focused on addressing issues within the Catholic Church, particularly in response to the Protestant Reformation. While the Council did address matters related to liturgy and religious practices, there is no evidence to suggest that it was specifically against music as a whole. In fact, the Council reaffirmed the importance of sacred music within the Church and sought to regulate and elevate its quality to enhance the spiritual experience of worshipers. However, it did express concerns about certain secular influences creeping into religious music, leading to guidelines being established to maintain the solemnity and reverence of sacred music.
