they both are massive collections of stars, they both contain nebulas and they are both held together by gravitational attractions. they are different because the spiral galaxy has arm, a dense center, and is spiral/disk shaped. The elliptical galaxy has evenly spread out stars, oval shaped, and is composed of older low-mass stars. Hope I helped :)
