I have a number. Say
[tex]x[/tex]I subtracted five from its half, this would be;
[tex]\frac{x}{2}-5[/tex]multiplied the difference by four, thus;
[tex]4(\frac{x}{2}-5)=2x-20[/tex]and then added eight, this is
[tex]2x-20+8=2x-12[/tex]I have the original number.
[tex]\begin{gathered} 2x-12=x \\ -12=-x \\ x=12 \end{gathered}[/tex]Thus, the original number is 12
