So we need to write these rates as unit rates. For example, in the first one we have hours in days so we should end up with something like:

[tex]x\frac{\text{hours}}{\text{days}}[/tex]

Where hours per days is the unit and x is a number. What we simply need to do here is take the number of hours and divide them by the number of days:

[tex]\frac{64\text{ hours}}{8\text{ days}}=\frac{64}{8}\cdot\frac{\text{hours}}{\text{days}}=8\frac{\text{hours}}{\text{day}}[/tex]

And that's the first unit rate, 8 hours per day.

For the second is the same process:

[tex]\frac{42\text{ ounces}}{7\text{ glasses}}=\frac{42}{7}\cdot\frac{\text{ounces}}{\text{glasses}}=6\frac{\text{ounces}}{\text{glass}}[/tex]

And this second unit rate is 6 ounces per glass.
