The process of fruit formation comprises of two main processes which are referred to as  pollination and fertilization.

What is Pollination?

This is defined as the transfer of pollen grains from an anther to a stigma through series of agents such as wind, water etc.

The nucleus of pollen grain is then fertilized inside the ovary and then fuses with the nucleus of an ovule to produce a zygote which is referred to as the fruit which is seen.

This then matures after some time with the parts being edible. This is therefore the most appropriate way in how fruits are formed by plants.
