My sister wanted to dress up as the "Drama Queen" for Halloween. My sister's friend had a reputation for imposing her views, much like little kids often do. On Halloween, when my sister's friend came around, I noticed a new sash on the table next to my sister's, which read, "Prom Queen." The way my sister's sash seemed suggested that she had altered it in response to the friends' comments. I became emotionally invested in my opinion of this scenario when I saw what had happened. Later, I did learn that the new sash was not for my sister, but rather the friend. My emotions were tied to the previous truth, and even if I changed my perspective on what was true, they made believing the new truth more difficult.
How is it possible that people can believe in illusion and accept it as reality?
People comprehend by using a frame of reference. The same way that people thought the earth was stationary and the stars were revolving around it. Our perceptions of what is real altered as we come to understand things from various angles. This does not imply that what we currently think is reality.
