Which of the following is an incorrect usage of a possessive pronoun?
A. The dog lay on its stomach
B. He bought their gifts yesterday
C. The children took turns giving the goat it's food

I think the right answer is C but I am not sure

The answer is A. If it was "the dog lays on its stomach" it would be correct.

You are correct, it's is short for it is, which is not possessive and does not make sense in the context of the sentence.
