The Zero Product Property states that if ab = 0, then either a = 0 or b = 0, or both a and b are 0. When the product of factors equals zero, one or more of the factors must also equal zero. Once the polynomial is factored, set each factor equal to zero & solve them separately.
The zero property states that if you have two terms, if either one is 0, the whole equation is 0.  For example:

[tex]7x=0[/tex]
That means that x must be 0 because we know 7 isn't 0.

Even something simple like:

[tex]8*0=0[/tex]
Because one of the factors is 0, the whole expression is 0.
