A study was conducted to investigate the role of attitude on academic achievement. Each participant (N=50) was randomly assigned to one of two groups. The first group read a summary of a study suggesting that academic achievement is primarily the result of intelligence. Participants in the second group read a summary of a study suggesting that academic achievement is primarily the result of effort. Participants were then asked to what degree their behavior impacts their academic achievement. Scores ranged from 1 (not very much) to 9 (the primary factor). The results are presented in the table below.
