I don't have much experience or knowledge in Physics or constructing circuits, but I think that if you replace a battery with less power with a battery with more power, then the circuit it is attached to will either not work, or it will 'overwork' and cause problems because the circuit is not adapted or constructed to work with a high power battery.
For example, if you have ever plugged in a bunch of devices in a power adapter (extension cord) and had the circuit box blow a fuse, this is because there are too many things that need power, and not enough power to give out.
The situation you have described is the opposite. There is instead, too much power and not enough devices or places to distribute it to, which means it will cause the circuit to overload.
