Respuesta :
With a strike against the meeting place of Iraqi president, Saddam hussein and other top lieutenants, the iraq war began on march 19, 2003.
Why was the war said to be controversial ?
- The aim of The USA and the British companion of Bush, Tony Blair, was to disarm the Iraq from WMD or weapons of mass destruction, which UK preffered to do by the help of UN.
- In november, 2022 the UN passed the resolution 1441 and gave Saddam one last chance to give up the WMD.
- The controversy here is that he didn't had any, what Bush and Blair believed to be false. Saddam wanted the world to recognise him as the man of power.
- Under the resolution 1441, Iraq had allowed the inspectors to move back into the country. This stood as a cause of war to the USA but the UN was still not convinced.
- With this we can see two main groups to be forming, the one which was in the favour of war which included Spain, Britain and the US. While the other one included France, Germany and Russia who opposed the millitary action.
SADDAM HUSSEIN AS A DICTATOR :
- Master of using chemical weapons, he commited genocide of his own people.
- In 1988, he used chemicals in Al-Anfal and also at a popular uprising.
So, here we can conclude that the iraq war stood to be controversial.
