Which sentence is better in an essay? Why?
Example #1: The main character ran away.
Example #2: The main character, fearing for his life, fled to the country.
This one gives more detail and impact for the reader. It even tells why the character is running away, and where they are running. Don't forget it also tells you that he was scared.
