Most living organisms need oxygen to survive(Animals and microorganisms).They therefore breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide save for green plants which give out oxygen and take in carbon dioxide.

Hereby involving living things in the constant cycling of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
