The correct answer to this open question is the following.

a) I will choose Spain.

"Contact with Europeans dramatically altered American Indian societies, both culturally and economically."

When the Aztecs saw the Spaniards, white man with beards, with their armors on, and riding the horses, they immediately thought they were the gods of their prophecies. That is why Emperor Moctezuma welcomed them with open arms and offered them gold and other precious metals.

The Spanish conquerors immodestly took advantage of this situation and with some alliances with other Indian tribes and their fire weapons, they defeated and conquered the Aztecs, changing the lives of the Indians forever.

The Spanish forced changes in religion, imposing Catholicism. And the other major change was that Spaniards brought many diseases unknown by the Indians. Examples: chickenpox, smallpox, Influenza, and Malaria. These diseases almost wiped out the Native Mesoamerican Indians.

b) The SECOND nation would be Britain.

"Contact with Europeans dramatically altered American Indian societies, both culturally and economically."

The British colonized territories in North America and had many conflicts, difficult, and battles with the Native American Indian tribes. White English were interested in establishing more settlements and exploit the many raw materials and natural resources that were on the Indian lands.

So the English settle in established the 13 colonies and forced Indians to move to other places, changing the face of native North America forever.

c)The third option would be France. It is a less effective example of the statement because basically, the French had a decent relationship with the Native American Indian tribes because the French were not interested in settling many territories or colonize the land. They were totally interested in the lucrative Fur Trade.

Answer:

A) The nation that best describes the statement "Contact with Europeans dramatically altered American Indian societies, both culturally and economically.” would be Spain. When the Spaniards first arrived in the Americas, they had been mounted on horse, had exaggerated beards, heavy armor, and with an overbearing fleet. When the indigenous saw this, they  immediately thought that these were the Gods of their prophecies and bowed down to the Spaniards who had no idea why the indigenous had bowed to them, but used this to their advantage. Emperor Moteczuma welcomed the Spaniards with open arms into the empire of the Aztecs. Taking advantage of this, the Spaniards made alliances with opposing empires and readied weapons while the natives treated them as the Gods with riches and wealth. The Spaniards took this opportunity and conquered the Aztecs with the help of the alliance's made. From there, the Spanish forced their conquered peoples to convert to Catholicism. Because the natives were not immune to the diseases the Spaniards had brought over, they suffered and had depleted the population by the thousands. This damaged the economy of the Aztecs and they no longer had much of a culture after being reformed by the Spanish.

B) The second nation that represents the statement "Contact with Europeans dramatically altered American Indian societies, both culturally and economically.” is Britain. When the British arrived into the Americas, they had discovered the indigenous living there. As soon as they found this out, they had a lot of conflicts regarding land and territory. The British wanted to exploit the resources and the land they had discovered and the indigenous wanted the opposite of this, resulting in conflict. The British hadn't really affected the natives culturally besides inflicting religious reformation later on, however, affected them economically greatly. Bringing diseases, the natives often fell sick and affected their tribes. On top of that, the land and resources were bring conquered by the British which forced them out of their homes.

C) The last nation to least represent the statement "Contact with Europeans dramatically altered American Indian societies, both culturally and economically.” was the French. It was least effective because the French had established a mutual relationship between the indigenous and were only here to sell and trade fur. They weren't really interested in the Natives nor the land. They had only wanted the lucrative fur trade therefore had not affected the indigenous cultural or much economically.
