Many individuals find that it is mandatory in schools and universities to speak and learn English. 1. Learning English will help a person improve their work and study opportunities. 2. To enable an individual to integrate into society where English is spoken. 3. Individuals want to learn English. 4. A student spends time outside of the classroom creating a Wikispaces to help students find out more information about scholarships available to disadvantaged students.

Although nr. 2 and 3 are considered to be good reasons too, the first reason is the only one that really matters, due to the importance of improving work and study opportunities in a society where only high qualified - and fluent in English - persons count. 4 is interesting from a social point of view but  won´t help the individual much in his/her future career.
