The great sponsor of admiral Zheng He was the Yongle emperor of the Ming Dynasty. Zheng He was a Muslim eunuch of the imperial court. He made 7 voyages to the seas of Asia and Africa between 1403 and 1432. The successor of Yongle, who died during a campaign against the Mongols, decided to stop the costly sea expeditions and focus resources on facing the threats to the northern borders of China.
