Periodic fasting without any food intake between meals preserve the fed-starved cycle in our body such that our body utilises glycogen stores in the liver and muscles before the next meal which replenishes these stores. This prevents excess glucose from culminating in our body which would be stored as fats in adipose tissues and contribute the the increase in fat stores.
