Water flows through a garden hose which is attached to a nozzle. The water flows through hose with a speed of 2.19 m/s and through the nozzle with a speed of 19.8 m/s. Calculate the maximum height (in m) to which water could be squirted if it emerges from the nozzle and emerges with the nozzle removed.

Respuesta :

maximum height upto which water will reach is given as

[tex]v_f^2 - v_i^2 = 2 a d[/tex]

now we know that as water will reach the top its speed will become zero

now if water is ejecting through nozzle then we will have

[tex]v_i = 19.8 m/s[/tex]

[tex]0 - 19.8^2 = 2(-9.8)h[/tex]

[tex]h = 20 m[/tex]

Now if water is ejecting out without nozzle

then we will have

[tex]v_i = 2.19 m/s[/tex]

[tex]0 - 2.19^2 = 2(-9.8)h[/tex]

[tex]h = 0.24 m[/tex]
