If this is the only force applied, you could use the Newton's second law.

[tex]\sum F = ma \rightarrow 64N = 8kg \cdot a \rightarrow a = \dfrac{64}{8} \dfrac{m}{s^2} = 8 \dfrac{m}{s^2}[/tex] (this value corresponds to the modulo of the acceleration)
