Afterward, Wilson executed a neutrality policy, as he wanted to maintain commercial relationships with countries on both sides. However, this was prevented by the British naval blockade over Germany.
The neutrality policy would end when German submarines sank American commercial ships, causing the entrance of the United States to the War.
