A garden is twice as long as it is wide. It is bordered on all sides by a path that is 1.5 meters wide. The total area of the path is 54 square meters. Find the dimensions of the garden.

area = area __ (x+3)(2x+3) = (x)(2x) + 54

2x^2+9x+9 = 2x^2+54

subtracting 2x^2+9 __ 9x = 45

dividing by 9 __ x = 5
