relationships to answer this prompt: Choose ONE relationship from the play
and analyze the relationship using the Power and Control Wheel and the

Organization of your analytical one-pager
A. Paragraphs
1. Paragraph one should introduce the relationship, who is in the relationship, the
type of relationship it is (romantic, friend, father son,) and explain what the
relationship is like.
a) Write a short introduction about relationships to introduce the general
topic (the quality of relationships)
b)
Explain who is in the relationship you are writing about
c) Identify which type of relationship it is (healthy (respectful), unhealthy,
abusive (power and control)) or a combination
d) Discuss the personalities of each person in the relationship
e) Offer an overall evaluation of the relationship. Is it a healthy
relationship? Is it an unhealthy relationship? Is it a complicated
relationship with some healthy aspects and some unhealthy aspects?
This will be your THESIS statement.
2. Paragraph two should identify the parts of the wheels that fit the relationship
(at least three) and provide specific examples from the play that show how the
relationship fits the selected part of the wheel.
a) Help readers follow your reasoning with clearly stated topic sentences
that introduce the point you want to make. (Rose and Troy's
relationship started off with trust, and then Troy used his social standing
to exercise his power.)
b) Be sure to explain the selected examples. Give specific examples from
the play that show how this category from the relationship wheel is
appropriate for this relationship.
c) If you use a direct quote, introduce your evidence and use proper in-text
citations
(1) For example: Troy tells Lyons that Cory lied to him about working
at the A&P, and Lyons says: "Cory just growing up. He's just
busting at the seams trying to fill your shoes" (Wilson 50).
